Queen’s Legendary 1986 Budapest Concert Film Hits Theaters as a Full “Live-Gig Experience”Get ready to feel like you’re standing in Népstadion in 1986.
Queen are turning their newly restored Queen Budapest concert film into a one-day-only, live-gig-style event at London’s Roundhouse on October 3, 2026 — complete with surround sound, synchronized lighting, and the chance to sing along with Freddie. The film captures the July 27, 1986 show during the Magic Tour — the first time a major Western rock band played a stadium behind the Iron Curtain. 80,000 inside, tens of thousands more outside. It was the last professionally filmed Queen concert with Freddie Mercury (just weeks before their final show at Knebworth).Restored in stunning 4K by Peter Jackson’s team from the original 35mm film, with brand-new audio mixes, Brian May calls it “definitively the most real experience ever of us, Queen, in our glory days.” Expect the full set: “Bohemian Rhapsody,” “We Will Rock You,” “Under Pressure,” “Who Wants to Live Forever,” and even a Hungarian folk song.Cinema and IMAX release follows worldwide from October 7. If you can’t make the Roundhouse event, the big-screen version is still going to be massive.Forty years later, the Magic Tour is still pure rock magic.(More Queen news, classic rock deep cuts, and Mendezee Radio streams waiting for you at mendezee.com.)
